You may be asking what "My Big Time Out" is all about. I truly did know what it would turn out to be until I lost my job back in March of 2009. I had been working as the Vice President of News at a TV station when the media world turned upside down. Ad revenues were down and "quality" was a word that was not often used- the new buzz word was " quantity". Job titles were changing or becoming non -existent and things were never going to be the way they were again. My boss had a great line- " We were here during Camelot". Could not have said it better myself. I had a great career- climbed the ladder- traveled the world-went to the Olympics- Moscow and saw the Berlin Wall when it came down- I worked for 4 owners including NBC/GE - became a Six Sigma Green Belt - I worked with very talented journalists, many I still call friends- I never stopped learning or appreciating the freedom of the press. It was all behind me - kind of abruptly- and I now had to figure out who I was and what I was going to do.
It is now almost a year later and I am still a single mother trying to raise two kids with no paying job, lots of contacts and a man who loves me no matter what title I have. Life is good- because I chose to see the good during my "BIG TIME OUT"
